Dr. Leila Hamdan from George Mason University recently served as Chief Scientist on an April 2015 cruise aboard the R/V Pelican. This cruise was part of the Gulf of Mexico SCHEMA Project (Shipwreck Corrosion, Hydrocarbon Exposure, Microbiology and Archeology) whose goal is to better understand the corrosion of shipwrecks in the Gulf of Mexico and its effects on shipwreck microbial communities.
