SMEs for Multi-Cruise Projects - More information

SMEs for Multi-Cruise Projects - More Information

Updated 25Jul23

PROPOSAL phase

During the proposal phase, the multiple cruise projects can complete 1 SME that includes information outlining ALL of the requested ship time.  The proposer must be sure to outline how many cruises, the periodicity, as well as the # of days.   This can be outlined in the Project Information section/Summary of Fieldwork.

Further, in the Cruise Dates/Requested Days field, be sure to add the total days for each category for each cruise.  If each cruise in a 3 cruise series will need 1 day of mobilization and 1 day of demobilization, 3 mobilization days and 3 demobilization days should be requested

FUNDED phase

When a multi-cruise project is FUNDED, login to MFP.us, click on the Confirm Funding step and mark the main proposal as FUNDED and click SAVE.  Then, the user must create a new SME per cruise using the Duplicate button.   For each SME, please be sure to make the Project Information/ Short Name field unique to describe that particular cruise (e.g. “DIATOMS Spring 2023 and DIATOMS Fall 2023” or “Diatoms 1of4”, “Diatoms 2of4”, etc.)  This will help the schedulers to schedule the correct cruise at the correct time.  Also be sure to update any other information that is different in each cruise (e.g. Summary of Fieldwork, equipment requests,  Cruise Dates, Requested Days).

DECLINED proposals

Login to MFP.us and in the Confirmed Funding step, mark the SME as Declined and click Submit.
