This is a sea-going ship’s crew position, assigned to R/V KILO MOANA. The Chief Cook is the senior officer in the Stewards Department and the Master’s principal assistant in all commissary matters. The Chief Cook is responsible for the procurement of all provisions, linens, towels, laundry supplies and soaps and the overall preservation, cleanliness, sanitation and organization of the Kilo Moana galley, mess decks, steward storerooms and the quality of all meals provided aboard the vessel. The Chief Cook is required to hold certificates for completion of STCW. Employee will work on a rotational schedule based on operational needs and available funding (e.g. 3-4 months on, 3-4 months off).
Must possess a current MMC and required STCW documentation of training, a valid Passport, a valid USCG Medical Certificate, valid Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC) and food safety and handling certificate.
About Employer: 
The UH Marine Center is responsible for coordinating operations on and maintaining the 186' SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) R/V Kilo Moana (KM). UH Marine Center facilities are currently located at Pier 35 in Honolulu Harbor. These facilities include: pier spaces for the KM, visiting research vessels, and several smaller vessels; a machine shop; cranes; and storage facilities.

Services provided by the Marine Center include: ship scheduling; provision of shipboard crew and technicians; engineering support; coordination of shared equipment such as underwater vehicles, submersibles, and small boats; and vessel chartering.
