Marine Professional - 2nd Mate (RV Savannah)

Duties: 
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of deck equipment, including frames, winches, crane and ship’s tender.

Required to perform duties as regular crewman, standing deck watches and assisting in the deployment and the recovery of scientific equipment.

Time/effort is split between frequent cruises (usually 1-7 days duration) and on shore.
Qualifications: 
Knowledge of marine maintenance and repair.

Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of diesel and gas engines, pumps, compressors, generators, and auxiliary equipment common to marine vessels

Good physical conditioning and an ability to lift and carry a minimum of 70 pounds.

Operation and maintenance experience on commercial, military or large private vessels preferred.

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years related experience.

USCG Deck License and STCW Certificate preferred.

Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug test is required.
