1300    Introduction and Welcome – Bruce Corliss, UNOLS Chair, will call the meeting to order and provide opening remarks.

·       Participant introductions.

 

1315    Federal Agency and IWG-FI Reports:

·      Information from Federal Agencies (NSF, ONR, NRL, Oceanographer of the Navy, NOAA, USCG, USGS, BOEM, and DOS) on budgets, 2011 activities, and forecasts for 2012 and beyond.

·      Interagency Working Group on Facilities and Infrastructure  (IWG-FI) Update – Bob Winokur

 

1400    Fleet Operations in 2011 and Recommendations for 2012:

·       Summary of 2011 operations and the 2012 scheduling process - Stewart Lamerdin, SSC

·       Summary of Agency Recommendations for 2012 Fleet Operations - Bob Houtman and Jon Alberts

·       UNOLS Response to Agency Recommendations – Robin Muench, John Morrison, and Vernon Asper

 

1420    Facility Renewal Activities:

·       Ocean Class Acquisition Update – Tim Schnoor, Mike Prince, and Chris MacDonald

·       Regional Class Acquisition Status – Bob Houtman

·       R/V Sikuliaq Construction Update – Terry Whitledge

1445    Review of UNOLS Membership Ballot Measures:  Ballots were distributed to UNOLS Representatives by mail in September. – Bruce Corliss

·       UNOLS Council Elections: Elections for two UNOLS Council positions will be held: Operator Representative (3 year term) and At-Large Representative (3 year term).  The slate of nominees can be viewed at: <http://www.unols.org/meetings/2011/201110anu/Slate2011.html>.

1505    UNOLS Celebrates 40 Years! – Join us in a look back through the years: Ships, issues, activities, and people.  – Introduction by Annette DeSilva

 

1525    COMMITTEE REPORTS – Bruce Corliss will introduce the UNOLS Committee Chairs who will report on their activities.

·       Ship Scheduling Committee (SSC) – Stewart Lamerdin, SSC Chair, will review any ship-scheduling activities from the past year that have not already been reported.

·       Fleet Improvement Committee (FIC)Clare Reimers, Chair, will summarize the activities from the FIC meeting held on October 24th and report on future activities.

·       Research Vessel Operators' Committee (RVOC) – Joe Malbrough, RVOC Chair-Elect, will review the highlights of the 2011 RVOC meeting, Committee activities over the past year, and plans for 2012.

·       Research Vessel Technical Enhancement Committee (RVTEC) – David Fisichella, RVTEC Chair, will report on RVTEC activities in 2011 and plans for the RVTEC Annual Meeting to be hosted by LUMCON in November.

·       DEep Submergence Science Committee (DESSC) – Peter Girguis, DESSC Chair, will report on DESSC activities and plans for their fall meeting in December.

·       Arctic Icebreaker Coordinating Committee (AICC) –AICC activities in 2011 will be reported by Robin Muench (AICC Chair) including an update on science operations for Healy and the Polar Class Icebreakers in 2011 and planned for 2012. 

·       Marcus Langseth Science Oversight Committee (MLSOC) – Jon Alberts will provide an update on R/V Langseth operations and plans for the MLSOC fall meeting.

·       Scientific Committee for Oceanographic Aircraft Research (SCOAR) – Annette DeSilva will report on the committee’s June meeting and future activities.

·       Ocean Observing Science Committee (OOSC) – Larry Atkinson will report on OOSC’s initial activities and plans for 2012.

 

1610    UNOLS Goals and Activities: Review the progress made on UNOLS goals and plans for the coming year:

·       Greening the UNOLS Fleet – Bruce Corliss will review plans for the Green Workshop in January 2012.

·       Polar Research Vessels Coordination: Cooperative Efforts between UNOLS, OPP, and OCE

Ø  Refresh of Science Mission Requirements for a Polar Research Vessel – Jon Alberts

Ø  Updates from the Arctic Research Support and Logistics Program – Renee Crain

Ø  OPP Regional Class Requirements for Antarctic – Stewart Lamerdin

·       Explore Options for Establishment of a UNOLS Speaker Series – Bruce Corliss

·       2011/2012 UNOLS Goals and PrioritiesBruce Corliss will present the 2011/2012 UNOLS Goals and Priorities as established by the UNOLS Council.
