2003 UNOLS Annual Meeting

Reports and Election Results

The UNOLS Annual Meeting scheduled for September 19, 2003 at the National Science Foundation was cancelled due to Hurricane Isabel.  We hope that all who attempted to travel to the meeting were able to make it home safely.

The 2003 Annual Meeting agenda included a variety of reports from UNOLS and agency representatives.  Discussions on important issues facing UNOLS in the upcoming year had been planned.  The UNOLS Office has compiled some of these reports and presentations.  Additionally, a copy of the keynote address that was to be provided by RADM Richard West, USN Ret., President, Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education has been made available.  RADM West had planned to discuss the need for fleet renewal and the development of other facilities to support the ocean sciences in the near term as well as his vision for the future of ocean science research and education.  All of these reports can be accessed through the links below.

The UNOLS Council Elections that were to be held during the Annual Meeting were held by mail/fax ballot.  UNOLS representatives were requested to submit their ballots no later than 1700 Pacific Daylight time.  The results of these elections are provided below.

We regret that the Annual Meeting was cancelled, but we will attempt to keep the UNOLS community informed of our issues, activities and future plans.  Please do not hesitate to contact the UNOLS Office with questions regarding any of the information provided by this report.
