The UNOLS Fleet Improvement Committee (FIC) will hold an open meeting on February 13, 2002 at 7:30 pm to discuss the status of the UNOLS Fleet renewal process. Members of the seagoing oceanographic community are encouraged to attend.

Discussion items will include:

- Fleet needs as identified in FOFC’s paper, Charting the Future for the National Academic Research Fleet: <http://www.unols.org/fic/fofc_fleet_plan.html>. 

- Implementation strategies for Fleet renewal

- Science Mission Requirements and Concept Designs

- Ship design/construction projects in progress

- Appropriations and funding issues for Fleet renewal

- Community involvement

The meeting will provide a forum for open discussion and comment. Refreshments will be available.
