- 0830 INTRO TO RESEARCH VESSEL HOME PAGE ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB
- Robert Hinton will demonstrate the use of the R/V THOMPSON home page
for scheduling, cruise planning, reports, etc. The system will remain
set up for use by members wanting to explore the home pages of UNOLS operators
and the World Wide Web. A work shop and session on how to use the web
and home pages can be held as one of the workshop sessions.
- 0900 WORKSHOPS
- We will break up into smaller groups to work on two or more of the
following subjects:
- White paper on the benefits of the University operated research fleet
using outline prepared by Paul Ljunggren. (Paul Ljunggren)
- Post cruise evaluations of research vessels, revision of Chief Scientist
report and Captain's report. (Mike Prince)
- Physical Standards and Examinations for crew members. Development of
standard physical requirements for sea going job descriptions. (Bill Coste)
- Crew training programs/revival and use of safety training manual including
better dissemination of safety standards and chpt 1 of manual to scientists.
Compliance with ISO 9002 standards, what is required and the possibility
of stricter enforcement of International Standards by other countries.
Other safety and training issues as developed. (Joe Coburn)
- Use of the Internet for completing reports, scheduling, cruise planning
and setting up a Ship Home Page. (Robert Hinton)
- 1200 LUNCH AND TOUR OF MARFAC FACILITIES AND VESSELS
- 1300 CONTINUATION OF WORKSHOPS
- Second session of work groups with an opportunity to divide up into
different groups.

- Marine Superintendents will select and discuss topics of mutual interest.
- Please submit list of items that you would like to discuss, other items
will be developed during the course of the meeting.

- Assignments to committees, panels and work groups
- Review of action items pending
- Suggestions for the 1996 Agenda and meeting format, everybody should
come to meeting with one idea, preferably in writing.
