This page has been put together to help PI's, schedulers and ship operators determine if permits and/or special permission is needed for research cruises. Listed below are links that will hopefully aid in finding out what permits/permissions are needed and how to apply. Contents: Marine Sanctuaries
& Permits would be needed for anything that is normally prohibited within the sanctuary in which you enter. Each sanctuary page has specific information on what is prohibited and contains contact information. National Marine Sanctuaries Sanctuary Locations and Specific Pages for Each Sanctuary Under the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary page there is
a copy of the regulations for sanctuaries that authorizes the sanctuaries
and gives them the rationale for issuing permits. They only included
the specific section for Monterey Bay, but all the general regulations
