Hi,
We have some new Niskins
here and I am wondering if anyone would share their experiences or thoughts on
cleaning them before first use? It seems there are some differences of opinion
on what to use or not use.

James,
The scientists onboard a vessel I worked on were using Dawn. This was around
the Horizon oil spill, so it was good for removing oil residue.

Hi James,
Spoke to the Carlson lab here and they agree with what I
remembered from BBSR days, which was washing the bottles with 10% HCL solution
then plenty of water.
Cheers,
Stuart

We start out with a wash with a soap solution (no phosphate in the
soap, simple green works), followed by the 10% HCl
rinse then lots of DW....
Cheers
Susan
