Overboarding block for 1/4" Hydro Wire

Has anyone in recent years purchased an overboarding block for use with 1/4" 3x19 Hydro Wire? Or, what are you currently using? Can anyone recommend a manufacturer? We may be looking to replace one soon and that manufacturer appears to be long out of business.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,
On Endeavor we use Harken blocks for each of the wires including 1/4". We also have a Harken block for trace metal work. The blocks are lightweight and durable. The wire doesn't ever get stuck between the cheek & sheave. The only thing I don't like about them is the open bearings - they need to be rinsed with fresh water frequently. Our block for 9/16" wire became stuck after its first use but loosened up with a fresh water soak. The bearings for the 9/16" block are a slightly different design than the ones for 1/4" & .322. The smaller blocks haven't gotten stuck, they just squeak when a bit dirty. The block comes apart easily for cleaning with a rag & water. Harken suggests not using any lubrication other than water.
