1.0 Historical narrative (1 small paragraph) covering the rationale for obtaining the vessel and its intended role within the academic fleet.
 

2.0 Relative stage of acquisition and expected delivery date also whether it is intended to be part of the UNOLS fleet or whether there is some other form of availability/operator.
 

3.0 Operational capabilities -- 1 paragraph narrative describing expected operating range and task of ship.

3.1 Ship operating characterisitics

3.1.1 Hull type, size and ice classification
3.1.2 Propulsion system and range
3.1.3 Crew and science capacity including room types and shower/toilet facilities.
3.1.4 Sea keeping and station keeping characteristics
3.1.5 Towing capability
3.1.6 Ship control systems: ability to maintain speeds, maneuver, ability to operate ship controls from non-bridge spaces
3.1.7 Navigation and positioning systems
3.1.8 Intra ship and ship-to-shore communication systems

      3.2  Scientific operational considerations 1 paragraph narrative describing intended scientific operational abilities.
3.2.1 Working deck descriptions
3.2.2 Van placement and capacities
3.2.3 Deck equipment, cranes, winches, wire etc.
3.2.4 Scientific laboratory description, including scientific equipment, e.g. computers, distilled water systems, fume hoods, temperatire control, provision of uncontaminated seawater supply etc.
3.2.5 Electrical system power availability and type (voltages and disposition, maximum amount, clean, availability of uninterrupted power etc.)
3.2.6 Science storage, volume, location and environmental aspects (air conditioned), Special storage areas, e.g. acids, solvents, radioactive materials, explosives etc.
3.2.7 Science payload-- variable load capacity and any caveats
3.2.8. Data networking system and other distributed services
3.3 Acoustical considerations, narrative describing design goals for noise

3.3.1 Shipboard sonar systems and parameters
